Cloudline
Pinot Gris 2006
Dreyfus Ashby is
proud to add Pinot Gris to the Cloudline Cellars
portfolio. The
inaugural
release, from the exceptional 2005 vintage, was a hit last year and reinforced
the
high-value reputation that Cloudline Cellars already
enjoys due to the runaway
success
of its Oregon Pinot Noir. Vinified under the careful
eye of consulting
winemaker
Véronique Drouhin-Boss, the
2006 Cloudline Pinot Gris is made in a classic
dry style
with a lovely balance of ripe fruit and vibrant acidity. It was bottled under
screwcap and arrives in plenty of time for summer.
Tasting Notes:
The
2006 Cloudline Pinot Gris is a brilliant golden
yellow color. A rush of citrus fruits
and white
flowers, both in the nose and on the palate, combine to make this a wine of
pure
pleasure. With excellent texture and a strong lift from the acidity, it
suggests food
pairings
with every sip. Try it with most shellfish, cheeses, ceviche,
sushi, and spicy
cuisine
such as Thai and Indian. Enjoy!
Oregon 2006
An
unusually wet Winter and Spring gave way to a
gorgeous, warm Summer. After the
smaller
2004 and 2005 vintages, it was a relief to see that 2006 would have higher,
more
normal
quantities. However, the question is always quality, and though the increased
average
heat days had many concerned, in the end, a relatively cool, even picking
season
produced an abundance of very high-quality fruit. In fact, the Wine Spectator
immediately
highlighted Pinot Gris in its harvest report as a grape to watch from
Oregon in 2006.
We think you’ll agree that the 2006 Cloudline Pinot
Gris fulfills that
promise.
